- The Bagel Store: Bagels with a satisfying chew.
- Diner: Hipsterfied diner in Williamsburg where I had a tasty sweet potato chorizo hash. Menu is very limited but there is an extensive list of specials every day. (3/13/09)
- Noodle Pudding: Italian with a homey vibe. It was all good -- mushroom risotto, a spicy penne, the caesar salad, roasted chicken -- but nothing I would specifically trot out to Brooklyn Heights for. (12/09)

- Momofuku Milk Bar: Adjacent to Ssam is this bakery that has a mix of savory and sweets. Pork belly bun with a fried egg was good but not as amazing as the next-door version. (2/09) Focaccia studded with Chinese lapchang sausage was greasy and a bit texturally unsatisfying (supersoft dough with superhard sausage bits). The cookies however are the thing to get -- my favorites are the corn cookie (almost like cornbread but not quite), the blueberry cream, and the "compost" cookie, which contains chocolate chips, pretzels, potato chips, among other strangenesses; also, chocolate-chocolate chip, peanut butter, banana, cornflake marshmallow chocolate chip (yes, I've tried them all). (3/15/09)
- Momofuku Noodle Bar: A slightly overpriced but excellent bowl of ramen. Perfectly cooked noodles, shredded pork and pork belly, and a silky slow-poached egg. Unlike traditional shiyu ramen broth, this one was not unctuous or overly salty (3/15/09)

- Rickshaw Dumpling: Rather disappointing array of steamed dumplings including a particularly nasty edamame version.
